Reaching In, Reaching Out
An online training for yoga teachers, yoga teachers-in-training, and experienced yoga practitioners in serving professions.
Sharing our best practices for making yoga and mindfulness accessible.
Over 8 modules, you will learn about anti-oppression practices, the impacts of trauma, our trauma-informed framework for offering yoga and mindfulness, healthy boundaries, and effective engagement. Through reflection prompts and discussion forum, our faculty will support participants in digging into lived experiences, biases, and learning in order to be able to reach out to others in meaningful and respectful ways.
With over 13 years of experience offering yoga and mindfulness to youth in marginalized settings, we’ve built a comprehensive body of tools and activities to support resilience-building. Our approaches were developed for youth aged 10-20, however, the material can be easily adapted to other yoga service and non-service settings alike.
You'll learn:
- the importance of anti-oppression practices,
- the basics of trauma and neurophysiology,
- a trauma-informed framework for offering yoga and mindfulness,
- considerations for creating safer spaces,
- how to build a session based on our class model,
- and more.
Study at your own pace on our easy-to-use learning platform.
You’ll get access to the training materials for one year and New Leaf’s Training Guidebook is downloadable and yours to keep forever!
